It's Everywhere!

My amethyst blog entry generated an interesting question, asking more about quartz.

There are two types of quartz - those with large crystals, including gemstones like amethyst, citrine, aventurine, tiger eye, smoky quartz, and rose quartz.  And those is small crystals, commonly called chalcedony.

So,Oh Gem Stone Guru,
I'm not playing stump the expert, really. But I'm wondering, can all large crystal quartz gems be found in geode form?
My Webster's tells me a geode is a"hollow nodule of stone formed in sedimentary rock and having walls lined with crystals." So, I suppose the sedimentary rock is a key to the answer..? But wouldn't a tiger eye or aventurine geode be dazzling?!

Cihangir -

I see that at least some of your prayer beads are made from gemstones. I certainly think that the properties of gemstones make a difference, and that it would made great sense to have prayer beads made from a variety of stones. Does that answer your question?

I, too, have never seen a tiger eye or aventurine geode. I think I've predominantly seen amethyst & citrine, although I'm sure I've seen others that just aren't coming to mind right now. And yes, a tiger eye geode WOULD be amazing to see!
